The History of The U.T.O
The U.T.O is a short name for "Underground Terror Organisation". It was founded in '93, with 3 members. The upcoming music was the Rave/gabba scene which attracted us very much. We started to buy vinyl and soon we had our turntables and stuff gathered together.
Then we started mixing, it took very long to become prof's cauz nobody in our town did it, it was too underground. As soon as we became good at the mixing stuff, we went mixing at a party's in the most weird underground locations. We organized our one party's also.
We kept mixing and doing our thing, and in '94 we started producing tracks on our lousy Amiga (which is almost dead by now). When we became experienced in producing music, we let the people hear our music. Lots of good reactions followed, and a lot of reactions like "you're faking us, you haven't made this dude" also, because we were so young at the time, which we regretted very much. Once we sent some tracks to the label "Ravers Religion" and they responded very positive and we could visit anytime. But they thought we were too young for a contract and : "besides your schoolstuff didn't let you, so the motivation isn't always 100 percents". We think it's great Bullshit, they just don't wanted that young people bringing out music and letting compare themselves to other old experienced producers. So with the age-stuff, the motivation decreased.
It was a very cool time, but then the Commercial side of the music took part of the scene which was a very negative effect. The music became something trendy, and the charts became full of the gabba/rave music. Our interest became less then before. We kept on listening, mixing and producing hardcore tracks till 96/97. And during that period we began to like other (underground music) like the jungle (there wasn't drum'n'basz) and old prodigy stuff.
We got obsessed by funk-beats, so we began practising with beats and synthesizertunes. We bought other music-equiptment and enlarged our studio too with another member : Willem-jan V., with our new sounds we could make more difficult stuff now. Then we made goodhearing tracks which fits in the nowadays "Chemical beatz". We kept on and on producing, and Da SqUeZeL practised scratching, and it improved very fast. The scrathes and the beatz make a very special chemical beatz style. We were just offered a new location to put our studio in because our old studioroom is becoming too little. This was a very short text of how we rolled into the scene. Few things we want to say is that we will go on producing till we are 70 years, and we WILL reache the top (eh...?), and with that, we are motivated for life. Just listen too our shit and you know somethings on the way.......
